Our Projects
Hoping to address many of the issues identified, the aims of Midwifery With Altitude are:
- The relief of sickness and the preservation and protection of good health of childbearing women and the newborn among those living at altitude in the Himalaya.
- To advance the education of the general public of the Himalayan area in the fields of health and hygiene.
With our in-country teams of professionally trained medical volunteers, Midwifery With Altitude strives to realise these aims through the following activities:
- Supporting local people to establish a training centre for nursing and childbirth attendants.
- Demonstrating and providing suggestions on how to make motherhood safer.
- Providing advice to improve general health and hygiene, including possible visits to local schools.
- Visiting people in their own environment to provide information on restricting the spread of disease.
- Providing assistance, where possible, to those from remote parts to attend hospital for treatment.
